It should have been Severus who was chosen. He had suggested it in the first place, and had even brought Draco to the first meeting with him so it could all be sorted out. But Severus was too close to the Dark Lord.

Potter was too much of a risk as well, what with him being linked to Voldemort. In any case, neither him nor Draco really wanted to be connected in any personal way.

Weasley... well, there had to be some small level of trust on both sides for it to work properly, so he was out, as was Granger.

It was Lupin who had offered in the end, much to Draco's surprise. The poor man with the tired face, robes threadbare and clinging to his skinny body; he barely looked like he could protect himself let alone someone else. He offered though, one night, staring across at Draco. The others had looked down at the table, pretending to be extremely interested in the patterns of the wood grain. Dumbledore had nodded and that was that.

Draco didn't have any other options so he had remained quiet, giving Lupin a short nod of thanks.

"You come here every week, on a Sunday," Draco remarked one night, between kisses. It wasn't any different kissing a werewolf than it was kissing a Death Eater, he had found. Except Lupin was only a danger to him once a month, and that was only if he ever went without the Wolfsbane which, to Draco's knowledge, he didn't.

After a moment the man replied: "It's quiet here. I like the coast."

Draco shifted between Lupin and the wall. It was draughty in the front hall in December, the salt air creeping through cracks in the door. After two months, they no longer made it all the way into the living room. "It's too damn quiet," Draco murmured. "Apart from the seagulls. Their squarking drives me insane."

Remus smiled. "If you want me to visit more often just say the word. I'm sorry there aren't any other options for company at the moment."

Draco almost said: 'It's okay, you're not so bad, really. Anyway, after I was run out of my own house by my father I doubt any of my old friends would want to talk to me.' He pulled Remus down instead and lost his thoughts on warm lips, the soft stroke of tongue and the grinding of growing arousal.

They moved up to the bedroom - the only bedroom in the small coastal cottage Draco had been taken to. As Remus unbuttoned Draco's shirt and trousers, Draco realised he was now, after all this time, finally at complete ease with his Secret Keeper.

"You can visit more often, if you like," he said quietly, eyes averted, before he lay down on the bed.
